It was early…a month away from Laura and John’s Hudson House wedding. A phone call solidified the timeline, hotel rooms booked and a timeline mapped out. Then the world shut down. 3-27-20 came, it was cold, windy and rainy. Not particularly great weather for a wedding. It’s ok, we have a rescheduled date of 8-7-2020. It’ll be warm and summertime. Except the restrictions were still not lifted. By this time I have not shot a wedding for almost six months in what was supposed to be one of my busiest years ever. Laura and John had to reschedule again. This time for almost a year later on 7-9-21.

Ever since their engagement session, I couldn’t wait for their wedding. They’re such a cool, welcoming couple, the kind you can meet for the first time and feel like you’ve known them forever. I’ll have to wait a little longer to get them in front of the camera.

The day finally comes!

Well restrictions were lifted and 7-9 finally came! It was an absolutely gorgeous summer day and perfect for a wedding! Laura got ready in a room that overlooked Manhattan while John prepped in a hotel room overlooking Jersey City. The mood was a mixture of excitement and anxiousness. Laura’s bridesmaids cheered and cried when they saw her in her dress for the first time…I mean she did look stunning! No time for tears, we have to get to the church!

Battling Hoboken/Jersey City traffic is like driving in a world where drivers make up their own rules, yellow lines on the road are just a suggestion and where they communicate with middle fingers and car horns. Thankfully I safely navigated to the church where guests sat and watched something that was two years in the making. After exchanging rings and vows, Laura and John had their first kiss and excited the church amongst cheers and hugs!

We went over to Pier A along the Hoboken waterfront for photos of the bridal party and some portraits. Once we finished up, we made our way to the gorgeous Hudson House. With the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline in the background, guests celebrated and danced all night with Laura and John.

Laura and John, thank you for letting me be a part of your day, it was truly an awesome day! I wish you guys the very best!
