Kira and Mike | Scotland Run Wedding

I met Kira a few years ago when we both worked for a local mortgage company. When I started to establish my wedding photography business, she always told me I was going to capture her day. When Mike proposed to Kira, she said yes, booked me and her self-fulfilling prophecy came true! I couldn’t be more happier for Kira and was excited to be a part of their Scotland Run wedding day!

During their Longwood Gardens engagement session, we talked about their Scotland Run wedding and how excited they were for it! I photographed my very first wedding at Scotland Run, so I knew it was going to be a little nostalgic for me. I knew it was going to be an awesome day for them!

Prep

Kira and Mike got ready at the same hotel just two doors away from each other. The hotel room’s windows, tables and energy provided for some great candid photos, along with some great lighting for Kira and Mike’s portraits. Once everyone was ready, we headed to Scotland Run for the first look!

Hey!

Kira and Mike opted for a first look under the ceremony pavilion. Luckily for them, the weather was warm for a February wedding! Mike stood near the alter and waited for Kira to come down and call his name. When she did, he turned around, soaked her in and they had their moment.

Philly! Philly!

After the first look, we headed into Philadelphia to take family formal, bridal party and bride and groom portraits. I helped Kira plan and obtain wedding photography permits at Merchants Exchange Building and the First Bank of the United States. Both are national historic landmarks and require a permit by contacting the National Park Service.

Once we were done, Kira and Mike decided they wanted to stop by their favorite South Philly bar, Philadium Tavern. They shared a lot of great times at the tavern, and wanted to incorporate it into their wedding day. Sadly, I later learned that their favorite place closed down.

I Do

After our visit to the corner bar, we headed back to Scotland Run. A cool moment was when Kira’s dad walked her towards the pavilion, where Kira’s step-dad met her, and they both walked her down the aisle together. They both lifted her veil up, shook Mike’s hand and sat down as Mike and Kira said their wedding vows in a short and sweet ceremony.

Portraits

Before Kira and Mike enjoyed their cocktail hour, we ran out to the Scotland Run golf course to take some night shots. The area was decorated with cool lights that I used in the foreground, creating cool bokeh effects! We grabbed a shot with the venue in the background, and headed in to party!

The Scotland Run Party!

Kira and Mike’s party was kicked off with the Philadelphia Eagles fight song! Little did they know, in a little over a week the Eagles would go on TO WIN THE SUPER BOWL!!! Anyway, guests enjoyed great food, an open bar, dancing, laughter and good times celebrating Kira and Mike. We closed out the night with a sparkler exit where I caught some killer shots!

Kira and Mike, it was my pleasure and I wish you two an incredible life filled with love, laughter and Eagles championships!
